Washington [US], February 3 (FeedsIndia): With several award ceremonies and cultural events bearing the brunt of the health crisis, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has put a stop to almost everything. Although much remains unknown, some details have been released about the Grammy Awards this year.
As per Variety, a number of information have begun to surface on how the show will be run, but it is all subject to change, as with anything during a pandemic.
The upcoming ceremony will be held in the outdoor section of the Los Angeles Convention Center, according to the publication, with the show’s traditional home of the Staples Center, which is positioned as the backdrop, basically next door.
There will be no crowd, keeping the safety of everyone in mind, although a limited number of media will attend, and plans call for a live red carpet broadcast featuring performers and presenters. Many media representatives have registered for virtual screenings already.
A variety of live shows have been scheduled, but several are likely to be pre-recorded, probably at venues other than the Convention Center. In reaction to the drastic increase in COVID-19 cases in Southern California late last year, the show was postponed from January 31 to March 14.
Beyonce has the most nominations, with nine in eight categories, for the Grammy Awards ceremony. Among the other big candidates for awards are Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and rapper Roddy Ricch.
Grammy Awards chief Harvey Mason jr. recently told Variety that the show will take place “in and around” the Convention Center, where “there’s room there for indoor and outdoor activity.”
The exact location, however, is currently unknown, but it’s likely that L.A. Live, the open plaza surrounding the two buildings, will be an option. The roof of the venue, or Gilbert Lindsay Plaza, where red carpets frequently take place, maybe under consideration. It is also possible that segments from any two or all three may be staged.
